About Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY)

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) is a small deposit savings scheme launched by the Government of India as part of the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign to secure the financial future of girl children. 👑💰

Parents or legal guardians can open an SSY account for a girl child below 10 years of age (max 2 girls per family). Accounts require a minimum deposit of ₹250/year up to a maximum of ₹1.5 Lakhs/year. 🌸

Key Features of SSY:
  • Tenure & Contributions: Deposits are made for 15 years, while the account matures after 21 years from account opening.
  • Competitive Interest: Earns high sovereign-backed compound interest compounded annually.
  • Partial Withdrawal: Up to 50% of the balance can be withdrawn after the girl reaches 18 years for higher education expenses. 🎓
  • EEE Tax Category: Exempt-Exempt-Exempt status — principal deposit, interest earned, and final maturity payout are 100% tax-free! ✨
